BYCA Puzzle League Rules

  1. The BYCA Puzzle League is open to anyone who wishes to take part.  Anyone can join at any time.
  2. It is intended that two puzzles will be added to the league each week and will remain available for four weeks.  The solutions to the two oldest puzzles will then be published and they will be moved to the Chess Puzzles page.
  3. For any of the puzzles available you need to e-mail your solution to byca@supanet.com.(see below).
  4. Points are awarded as follows:  For each puzzle attempted (ie played), one point.  For each correct solution a further point is given.  A number of bonus points will be added depending on the number of moves set for each puzzle.  For example for a "mate in two" puzzle, four points will be given for a correct solution (1 for played, 1 for correct and 2 for bonus).
  5. The total number of points will be calculated for all entries made and the total score is used to determine current position. Therefore you can have several tries if you wish on any of the puzzles. If you get a correct solution to a puzzle then further entries for that puzzle will not be added to your league table score.  So maximum points are scored if you get the correct solution no matter how many entries are made.
  6. When e-mailing your solution(s) to byca@supanet.com please ensure that you provide your name and identify the puzzle(s) that you are providing the solution to.  You can submit several entries on one e-mail if you wish.  You can optionally identify your county, school or club together with your age group (eg U7, U8 ... U18, 18+ etc) if you wish.  These will be added to the league table above.
  7. Good luck, get solving and get e-mailing.
